Children & Families

Welcome to your home at Inguz Care — a place to feel safe, make friends, and try new things.

Inguz Care is a real home where the people who live and work here care about you, your story, and what matters to you. This page helps you and your family see our home, meet the staff, and hear what everyday life looks like.

Photo Book

We’re creating a friendly picture tour of the house so you can see the rooms, garden and spaces before you visit. Photos and captions will be added here soon.

Video Tour

We’re working on a short, friendly video (about 60–90 seconds) to show the home, the team and everyday spaces. It will be informal, reassuring and include subtitles and a transcript so it’s easy for everyone to follow.

Video coming soon. This is where you’ll be able to watch a tour of the home.

Meet the Team

These are some of the grown-ups you might meet. They are here to listen, keep you safe and help you feel at home.

Wikus Cookney

“Hi, I’m Wik. I manage the home.”

I make sure it’s a safe, warm place. I love fixing things and making sure everyone gets to try new activities.

Richard Barfoot

“Hi, I’m Richard. I’m a mental health nurse.”

I help keep everyone healthy and listened to. I enjoy football and walking in the park.

Siobhan Barfoot

“Hi, I’m Siobhan. I’m a therapist.”

I help young people with their feelings. I bake cakes at the weekends.

Dr. Hayley Knagg

“Hi, I’m Hayley. I’m a psychologist.”

I chair our team meetings to make sure plans help you. I like gardening and animals.

What to Expect

When you move in, we want you to feel welcome, not rushed. Here’s what will usually happen:

  • You will have a friendly meeting and a little welcome pack.
  • We’ll show you around your room and the house.
  • You’ll meet your keyworker — someone who will listen to you and help make a plan with you.
  • We will listen to what you want and help you stay in touch with people who are important to you (if it’s safe).
  • If anything worries you, tell any staff member — we’ll help.

Information for Families & Carers

For parents, carers and guardians, we aim to offer clear, practical information and open communication.

  • How we keep children safe, supported and emotionally contained.
  • A 12-week assessment period including observations, meetings and a co-produced care plan that you are invited to contribute to.
  • Visiting and contact arrangements that are sensitive to each child’s circumstances and care plan.
  • How to request our Statement of Purpose and policies.
  • Plans for a secure, password-protected area for sensitive photos or reports that should not be shared publicly.

Safeguarding & Privacy

Children’s safety, dignity and privacy come first. We will not publish identifying photos or personal details of any child on this public page without explicit written consent from the child (where appropriate), their parent or guardian, and the placing authority.

Photos on this public page will be non-identifying or staged. For family albums showing a child in situ, we will use a secure, password-protected area and require written consent.

Parents and children can withdraw consent at any time, and we will remove images promptly. For any requests, please contact: contact@inguzcare.co.uk.

Accessibility & Inclusion

  • All photos will include short alt text.
  • Videos will have subtitles and a transcript.
  • Text uses plain English with clear headings and easy-to-click buttons.
  • We can provide a printable A4 version of this information for families who prefer paper or offline access.
